Frequently Asked Questions

When and where does Pack 256 meet?

Pack 256 has "Pack Meetings" (Everyone) on Tuesday evenings, one per month at William B. Orenic School "WBO".

Most "Den Meetings" (Own age group only) are once or twice a month, also at WBO on Tuesdays as well. Some Dens may meet on other nights per Den Parent/Leader arrangements if not on Tuesdays.

WBO is located at: 5820 Theodore Dr., Plainfield, IL 60586

What area does the Pack serve?

Pack 256 welcomes scouts and families from all locations within the greater Plainfield, Shorewood, Joliet, Minooka and surrounding areas.

Where can I get my scout a uniform?

There are two options to getting uniforms pieces for scouts.

Rainbow Council Scout Shop: 921 South State Street, Lockport, IL 60441

My child(ren) does not attend Troy30C schools, can he/she still join in your Pack?

YES! Pack 256 is charted through Troy School District 30C. While Troy 30C is our Charter Organization, we take scouts from all surrounding areas. A family does NOT have to live within the boundaries of Troy 30C. We welcome children from any school district, parochial or private school, or home schooled.

What is the "commitment" if we sign up?

Generally, scouting with Pack 256 is a "come as you can" commitment. There is no requirement or mandate that a scout participate at any level. However, we do take attendance at all events for engagement tracking and tracking of advancement. Scouts earn their rank specific "Adeventures", by attending Den Meetings. If one is missed, they are able to be completed at home with the family. Therefore, we do encourage the minimal participation of a scout to be the monthly Den Meetings and Pack Nights (where scouts have fun and also receive adventure loops, patches, awards, etc,).

Scouting is a family program; therefore Pack 256 requires a parent/Guardian/trusted adult to attend Den Meetings with their Lion and Tiger Scouts. Cub Scouting calls this being an "Adult Partner". Adult Partners are required for all ranks on any Cub Scout Camping events.
